About Catherine

As a Realtor, Catherine Tanner enjoys the same level of trust and respect from her clients as she earned from the business community during her more than two decades as a Wayne County media advertising specialist and consultant. And just as she served small and large businesses alike with the same level of honesty, dedication and caring, she serves a broad range of real estate clientele — from first- time homebuyers and Veteran’s Affairs-eligible candidates, to buyers and sellers of estates and investment properties. She is building a reputation as the premier real estate professional for local clientele, as well as for airmen and soldiers purchasing homes subsequent to their permanent change of station orders. Notably, she is a Certified Military Real Estate Agent Partner through AHRN (Automatic Housing Referral Network).

In Catherine’s words: “Thanks to my previous and current professional experience, I have learned how to work with a wide range of people and their budgets. I understand how to listen, to hear their life stories and appreciate each clients journey. As a Realtor, I want to make sure my clients are treated fairly with dedication, integrity, honesty and professional courtesy."
To say Catherine is steadfast in her commitment and sense of obligation to her community and its people is an understatement. She is a local native who has lived in the same Goldsboro house since she was 4 years old and she is now raising her three children locally.

By supporting the local chapters of the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Suicide Prevention through Out of the Darkness, Catherine serves not only her real estate clientele, but her community and fellow residents as well.
On the global level, Catherine is an avid supporter of reforestation, environmental conservation and animal rights through NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School Graduate 1996), The Nature Conservancy and Oceanic Global.

Family History

Born in Thibodaux, LA, Catherine later moved to Beaumont, TX before moving to Goldsboro, NC in her very early years. Catherine has grown up in Wayne County; she is a wealth of knowledge, your neighbor, and your friend.

Family is Home

After growing up in Goldsboro, I always knew I wanted to raise a small-town family. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., I returned home to gain sales experience in marketing at the Goldsboro News-Argus, where I stayed for over 22 years. During that time, I had three beautiful children who remain the focus of my life and remind me of what is essential. Our community, our church, friendships, and quaint feel are what we love about living in Wayne County.

Military Family

Catherine's father, Hal Tanner, Jr. was very interested in and took an active part in Military Affairs and the Seymour Support Council, and the North Carolina Commission on Military Affairs.
Paternal Grandfather
Hal H. Tanner served U.S. Navy.
Paternal Grandmother
Georgia T. Tanner rode with an F-100 fighter pilot in a sound barrier-breaking flight from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and wrote an account of her experience in her newspaper article.
Maternal Grandfather
Dr. Joseph "Joe" Benjamin Crawford served U.S. Army during Word War II.
Maternal Great-Grandfather
Herman Minderman – Served U.S. Army during World War I.

My Family

For generations my family has remained in our community with steadfast pride and love, serving in every way possible. From the Salvation Army, United Way of Wayne County, Animal Shelter, Boys & Girls Clubs, Boy & Girl Scouts of America, First Presbyterian Church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and so many more. Especially dear to my grandfather’s heart was the Empty Stocking fund, held every Christmas to help less fortunate children have a happy holiday. The love of our community and the friendships we have made will last a lifetime and for generations to come.

My Experience

In addition to my deep connections throughout the Wayne County Community, my intimate knowledge and my experiences of having lived here all my life, give me enthusiasm and desire to make Wayne County your home. With my clients I take an "all hands on deck" approach to real estate. Sometimes buying or selling a home can be a complex, sophisticated and often deeply personal endeavor. My clients deserve the full service and attention that I consistently provide. On a personal note, I attribute my success not only to my passion for homes; my business has grown successfully thanks to repeat business of happy clients and their introductions to family, friends and neighbors. This track record is only possible because I deliver results AND an enjoyable experience. Reared in the South, I have an effective combination of Southern charm and grace with an edge to go the extra mile for my clients in a competitive market where seconds count. I AM your LOCAL Realtor.
